Off the sidelines

In President Obama’s campaign stop at Carnegie Mellon this week, he said:

Now, some of you may have noticed that we have been building this foundation without much help from our friends in the other party. From our efforts to rescue the economy, to health insurance reform, to financial reform, most have sat on the sidelines and shouted from the bleachers.

As Obama well knows, the truth is quite the opposite. He wanted us on the sidelines! His problem was that we weren’t on the sidelines; we were in the fight, doing everything we could to stop him. When the Democrats rejected all our proposals and committed themselves to aggrandizing government, we had nothing else to do.
