My original post is retracted. I was taken in by a bogus video. Here’s the full context and, if anything, it shows the exact opposite of the doctored clip.

POSTSCRIPT: This one is pretty interesting too, though. Obama is trying to have it both ways; to tie McCain to the excesses of the right while escaping the excesses of the left. Stephanopoulos will have none of it.

come on, how could you have fell for that? What did you originally say?
I said that Obama has a record of making stupid statements when separated from his teleprompter.
How could I have fallen for it? Well, when Stephanopolous corrected him, and he momentarily accepted the correction, it sure looked like he had made a mistake. It was convincing dishonest editing. (Very much like the truncation of McCain’s hundred-years remark in the Democratic attack ad earlier this year.) But I agree I should have known better; when someone deletes context, there’s usually a reason.
